Intro To Acts Study
Over the past few months my team and I have been prayerfully considering the content we wanted to create for you. As all the ideas swirled, one came to the surface – walking through a book of the Bible verse by verse. We know that secularism is trying to shape us; we feel it in almost every aspect of our lives. But we want to be people who are shaped by the convictions of the authority of scripture.
Hebrews 4:12 says, “For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart” (NIV).
As I prayed about choosing a book, I landed on Acts for a few reasons. First, I am steeped in it as I am preparing for a teaching series on it this fall. (Michael Scott might call that a win win win!) Second, in a moment where everything is vying for our attention, Acts uniquely speaks to a singular focus: the kingdom of God.
I encourage you to join me as we walk through Acts, and to take time to dig in and study the scriptures with the Holy Spirit beyond this devotional. At the end of each one I have provided a response question to get you started. Kim Butler, who is part of the R+R team, has also partnered with me in this to write prayers out of each scripture. If you don’t know where to start, that’s ok. Start here.
